Shalach Manot Mitzvah Opportunity

Thursday, February 17, 2022

Purim is approaching soon and begins the evening of March 16.

As with so many of our wonderful traditions and celebrations, we would like to continue the mitzvah of Shalach manot at the Unified Jewish Congregation of Baton Rouge. This mitzvah consists of sending gifts of food to each other at this time of year. This tradition is also a small fundraiser that will specifically benefit our religious school.

In order to make this wonderful mitzvah possible, we ask you to consider a financial donation and our team of staff and volunteers will take care of the rest. Each local family in the congregation will receive one shalach manot package of special Purim treats. The package will also include the names of those making these gifts possible at one of the Purim donation levels below.

Grogger – $36
Hamantaschen – $72
Masks – $144
Megillah – $288

A donation for shalach manot not only allows you to help give gifts to each and every local member but also helps support the religious school. Thus, you are performing this double mitzvah!

Please send your check to either synagogue office by March 4. Your check should be made out to Unified Jewish Congregation of Baton Rouge, 3354 Kleinert Ave, Baton Rouge, LA 70806. You can also make this contribution using your ShulCloud account.

We are also looking for volunteers to stuff the bags on March 4th at 9:00 am at the Kleinert location and volunteers to deliver them.
